A 60-second tour of the screen
Before connecting anything, let’s learn where things live. MsgBuddy has three fixed pieces of “furniture”: the sidebar (left), the top bar (top), and — on phones — the dock (bottom).
The layout
The sidebar (left) — where you go
The sidebar is your main menu. What you see depends on your role (some items are hidden for limited roles). The usual order:
| Item | What it’s for | Chapter |
|---|---|---|
| Dashboard | Your home screen with key numbers | Analytics |
| Inbox | Reply to conversations | The Inbox |
| People | Your contacts | Contacts & CRM |
| Campaigns | Bulk announcements | Campaigns |
| Subscriptions | Recurring orders | Subscriptions |
| Flows | Visual chatbots | Automation & Bots |
| Templates | Pre-approved messages | Templates |
| Commerce | Product catalogs | Commerce |
| Tasks | Your to-dos and reminders | The Inbox |
| Media | Uploaded images/files | Templates |
| Usage | Your limits and consumption | Analytics & Usage |
| Settings | Everything configurable | Settings |
Don’t see Campaigns, Subscriptions, or Flows? Those are limited to Owner and Admin roles. That’s expected, not a bug — see roles.
The top bar (top) — quick tools everywhere
- 🔍 Global search — press Ctrl + K (or ⌘ + K on Mac) to jump to any contact, conversation, or page instantly.
- 🟢 Live status — a small pill showing whether your real-time connection is healthy, so you know the inbox is updating live.
- ✅ Tasks — a badge counts your due to-dos; click to see them.
- 🐞 Feedback — report a bug or request a feature from anywhere.
- 🌗 Theme toggle — switch between light and dark.
- 🔔 Notifications — new messages, approvals, and alerts; mark them read here.
- 👤 You — shows your email and current workspace, and the Log out button.
The dock (phones) — the essentials
On a small screen, the sidebar collapses into a bottom dock with just the most-used destinations: Dashboard, Inbox, People, Campaigns, Templates. Everything else is a tap away in the menu.
The single most useful shortcut in the whole app is Ctrl/⌘ + K. Learn it now — it’s the fastest way to find a customer or hop to any screen without hunting through menus.
